Welcome back to the coaches, parents and athletes of SMHS! To start our fall athletic season, we will be having a “Kick-Off Night” on Wednesday, August 26 from 6-7pm at SMHS. Parents and student-athletes in grades 6-12 will start in the auditorium for a brief presentation, and conclude the evening by meeting with their coaches. Fall Athletics offered for SMHS:

M8TH GRADE DINNER DANCE!
SMHS Senior Terry Lackingstook an Internationl trip to ITALY during April Vacation that was arranged by International Group Leader Lisa Camarda for SMHS students. The Jazz-Rock Ensemble, Middle School "BEST" and the Concert Band performed concerts at West Street Elementary School and at the Center of Hope on Tuesday, June 16th. As one student commented, "This is what playing in band should be all about!"

L Ms. Blake and Ms. Peoples, Coordinators of the Community Outreach Program partnered with Ms. Candy Dranginis, Manager of the Southbridge Credit Union (school branch) and presented "Banking Principles" to all 7th grade classes. Mr. Lamay and Ms. Peoples donated funds in which 8 students won the opportunity to open an account. Those students were Kylee Loftus, Angelica Ayala, Kristina Coran, Jenniann Javier, Andrew DeCelle, Rosairys Puello, Jayda Rodriguez and Alisha Alvarado.

SMHS Band received a Silver Medal in the Massachusetts Instrumental Conductors Association Festival Competition. Bands receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal, or two lower "festival participation" ratings. Southbridge advanced from their previous Bronze medal at this extremely rigorous performance contest on the merits of their hard work, additional practice and dedication to the Southbridge Band Program. Congratulations!
IN THE CLASSROOM
On Tuesday, March 10th our 1st annual "Students With Artistic Gifts" SWAG Night was held at SMHS. An evening of poetry readings, dance, singing, instrumental music, photography, graphic design and visual art was presented to the Southbridge Community.
Principal Earls presented gift cards to lucky Middle School Students which were donated by the South 5 Dialysis Unit Nurses and Social Worker at UMass Memorial. This yearly event is part of the SMHS Community Outreach Program which is coordinated by Ms. Blake and Ms. Peoples along with the assistance of Nurse Cantara.
On Wednesday, 12/10/14 Sheriff Evangelidis visited SMHS to recognize our students who collected well over 100 coats to donate to needy families. The Sheriff stated that his office could not effectively run this program in Southbridge without the strong participation of students at SMHS!
Over 25 of our Seniors completed at least one college application under the guidance of Ms. Feraco, Ms. Curran, and Ms. Dargie
We are extremely proud of 6 musicians from the SMHS Choir and Band program who auditioned at Grafton High School on Saturday, November 15 for possible participation in Mass Music Association Central District Band and Choir. They performed prepared solos, sight-read music and were graded on scales and vocalises on their own in front of a demanding professional adjudicator. The students were Mackenzie Mercure, Jacob Doiron, Conrad Waack, Sydney Mercure, Courtney Gallipeau and AlysiaRivera
