MEFA College Financing Seminar
Parents and students are invited to attend a free seminar on paying for college, which will be held on Wed., January 13, 2016, at 6:00 at the Old High School, 25 Cole Ave. This seminar is offered through MEFA, the Commonwealth’s authority on planning, saving, and paying for college. An experienced MEFA representative will provide an overview of the college financing process, including types of financial aid, how to apply, and financing options for your family. Before the seminar, be sure to visit MEFA’s website — mefa.org — to download a copy of the seminar presentation

 




The nurses and Social Worker from South 5 Dialysis Unit at U Mass Memorial Hospital in
Worcester donated gift cards to lucky Middle School students.  This program is coordinated
by Nurse Kelly Cantara and Ms. Ellie Peoples .



The SHS Varsity Cheerleaders to promote a sense of community invited the Tiny Mite and Mighty Mite
cheering squads from the Southbridge Pop Warner Program to cheer alongside them and route on the
Pioneers!  There definetely were "future" SHS cheerleaders on sidelines that night!








Science teacher Mr. Keough demonstrated an experiment on forms of matter using dry ice and
liquid nitrogen to students in the PASS, Life Skills and WEP Programs

Ms. Nguyen's ELL classes along with Ms. Blake the librarian collaborated on a
bookmark contest for the book View From Saturday.  The class with the
highest combined score won a tea party with arugula....just like in the novel!













Student Council members along with Advisors Ms. Jalbert, Ms. McDiarmid
and Mr. Thomo ran a successful Coat Drive here at SMHS.  Pictured with them
is Sheriff Lew Evangelidis who presented them with a certificate of appreciation















6th and 8th grade students in Ms. Krantz's Literacy Class learned about Blackout Poetry
in honor of National Poetry Day on October 8!
